The South and West Forum, a Howard Beach paper, has picked up the story of the cluster-f*ck that is Bayside Cemetery, and the people working to get it in a good state of repair.
In the article, I’m described as a “Brooklyn Jewish resident”, which though factually correct, I’m not sure is what I want as my epitaph. Then again, there are worse things to say about me.
Anyway, the story rightly puts a spotlight on Anthony Pisciotta, (non-Jewish, non Brooklynite), but like me, doesn’t care about the legal narishkeit; he just wants to save the place from this.
Along with his kids, he has been coming regularly, and on Veteran’s Day, broke out the welding torch to put back together a 123-year-old gate.
