Man, I had cracked my knuckles and was all set to lay down the smack on George Stephanopoulos for letting Rudy Giuliani, in an interview on Good Morning America, get away with the mind-bending statement,
"We had no domestic attacks under Bush. We've had one under Obama."
A day later, after getting battered by bloggers and even fellow reporters at his own network, Stephanopoulos admitted he screwed up.
"Whatever the Mayor meant, it’s not what he said. All of you who have pointed out that I should have pressed him on that misstatement in the moment are right. My mistake, my responsibility."
So I'm glad you admitted your error George, so you get off with just a slap. As I've mentioned, GMA is more a show for getting Thanksgiving recipes than a news program, but you at least claim to be a journalist. It would be great if next time you could recall that within temporal proximity to the interview you're conducting; and what's the matter boy, you have a problem with the word, "lie"?
Lastly, this 'gaffe' of Giuliani's is not the first time in recent days that members of the GOP have repeated that little bit of reality denial. I'll be writing more about that in a follow-up post.
