Sunday morning was gray, but there was a big turn-out for the “We Ride The Lanes” rally in support of the PPW bike lane. The turn-out was great in demonstrating the use, and utility of the “Class I” lane. Parents feel utterly secure letting their kids ride.
I showed up sans bike, because I had to leave early to get to the 2nd-round of the Jeopardy! try-outs.
To show the importance of lane separation, the day before, I was walking by the Henry Street lane, (a Class II), and shot this video. (Note the cyclist forced to ride into traffic).
As Brooklyn Spoke says, “If an 8 year old doesn’t feel safe, it’s not a bike-lane.”
