I wrote back in March, that the revelations of cover-ups by the Catholic Church in Ireland, were only likely to get worse.
Not only did Fr James Chesney take part in the bombing, but his involvement was covered-up by the British government and the Catholic Church. Chesney, who was secretly an IRA leader, was moved to a parish in the Irish Republic, and never charged with any crime. Un-f*cking believable.
Attempts by lower-ranking police to question Chesney were thwarted by higher-ups, and he died in 1980.
“BBC Ireland correspondent Mark Simpson said that the report lacks any explanation from Cardinal Conway or (Northern Ireland Secretary) Mr. Whitelaw about how they came to their decision to move Chesney.
“As both are now dead, we can only speculate as to their motives,” our correspondent added.
“The most generous theory is that they felt that protecting the priest was the lesser of two evils.”
So who says he’ll forgive you
And says that he’ll miss you
And dream of your sweet memory
But I don’t
But I won’t
And that’s the difference
Between God and me
